The Grammy Awards have confirmed that Trevor Noah will return as the host for the fifth year in a row. The announcement was made on Tuesday, and he is set to take center stage on February 2 during the live broadcast from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, which will be aired on CBS. This year’s event is particularly meaningful, as it aims to raise funds for recovery efforts following the wildfires that impacted the area surrounding the Grammys’ home base.

The previous editions of the Grammys have seen a steady increase in viewership, culminating in 2024 with an impressive 16.9 million viewers, making it the highest-rated ceremony since 2020. Last year, Noah entertained the audience with humor that included playful jokes about the romance between Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce, as well as commentary on TikTok and Universal Music Group. He famously quipped, “This is like flying in a Boeing airplane. One minute there’s a door, the next one we are outside,” highlighting his comedic style.

Noah joins an exclusive club of hosts, as he becomes one of the few to have hosted the Grammys five or more times. Previous to him, musical figures such as Andy Williams, who hosted seven times, John Denver with six, and LL Cool J with five, held this distinction.

In addition to his hosting duties, Noah will also serve as a producer and is nominated for a Grammy himself. His comedy album, “Where Was I,” is competing for best comedy album. Last year, he was up for the same award with “I Wish You Would” but did not take home the trophy, which was won by Dave Chappelle. This year, he faces stiff competition, including Chappelle again, as well as Ricky Gervais, Jim Gaffigan, and Nikki Glaser, who recently hosted the Golden Globes.

Beyoncé leads the nominations this year, aiming for recognition with her album “Cowboy Carter,” which is nominated for both album of the year and country album of the year. Additionally, her song “Texas Hold ’Em” is up for record, song, and country song of the year. Close behind her in nominations are Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Charli xcx, all tied with seven nominations, with this being Charli xcx’s first recognition as a solo artist.
