Montgomery scores 24 as UNC Wilmington defeats William & Mary 85-74

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Bo Montgomery delivered an impressive performance with 24 points as UNC Wilmington triumphed over William & Mary with a score of 85-74 on Monday night.

In addition to his scoring, Montgomery secured seven rebounds for the Seahawks (14-5, 4-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association). Donovan Newby also made a significant contribution, adding 18 points to the scoreboard while shooting an effective 4 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, and going a perfect 7 for 7 at the free-throw line. Khamari McGriff rounded out the strong offensive effort with 12 points, hitting 5 of his 6 shots.

On the other hand, Gabe Dorsey led the way for the Tribe (11-8, 5-1), scoring 18 points. Kyle Pulliam also made his mark with 12 points and dished out four assists. Unfortunately for William & Mary, this defeat ended their six-game winning streak.

The Seahawks held a slim 43-37 advantage at halftime, bolstered by Montgomery’s 13 points in the first half. They gained momentum in the second half, launching an 8-0 run that increased their lead to 57-44 with 14:10 remaining in the game. Montgomery continued to shine, netting 11 points after the break, helping secure the victory.

Both UNC Wilmington and William & Mary are set to return to action on Thursday. The Seahawks will travel to face Charleston, while the Tribe will host Hampton in front of their home crowd.
