The Milwaukee Brewers have officially announced the signing of pitcher Elvin Rodríguez to a one-year contract, which includes a club option for the 2026 season, after he spent the previous year playing in Japan.
Rodríguez, a 26-year-old right-handed pitcher, had an impressive performance in the Nippon Professional Baseball league last season, achieving a record of 1-1 with a notable 1.80 ERA and securing one save over 32 games with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in the Central League.
In his brief Major League Baseball career, Rodríguez appeared in one game for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2023 and made seven appearances with the Detroit Tigers during the 2022 season. Across his eight Major League appearances, which included five starts, he has struggled with an overall record of 0-4 and an ERA of 9.55.
To facilitate Rodríguez’s addition to the roster, the Brewers designated pitcher JB Bukauskas for assignment. Bukauskas, who is 28 years old, had a solid performance with the Brewers last season, finishing with an 0-0 record and a 1.50 ERA in six relief outings.
