Singer and actress Jessica Simpson and her spouse, former NFL player Eric Johnson, have made the difficult decision to separate following a decade-long marriage.
In a statement to People, the 44-year-old Simpson shared, “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.”
She emphasized that their children remain the top priority as they navigate this challenging time together. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family,” she added.
Simpson and Johnson, who exchanged vows in 2014 after dating for four years, are parents to three kids: 12-year-old Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 11-year-old Ace Knute, and 5-year-old Birdie Mae.
Prior to her marriage with Johnson, Simpson was wed to Nick Lachey from 2002 until their divorce in 2006. Johnson has a background in the NFL, having played for the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints.
