Packers wideouts Doubs and Reed, along with Eagles linebacker Dean, exit wild-card matchup due to injuries

PHILADELPHIA — In an intense wild-card matchup on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers faced not only their rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, but also a series of player injuries that affected both teams significantly. Wide receivers Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed from the Packers, along with linebacker Nakobe Dean from the Eagles, all exited the game due to various injuries.

During the third quarter, Doubs experienced a concerning moment when he fell face-first onto the turf as he attempted to catch a pass. He lay on the field for several minutes receiving medical assistance, prompting Coach Matt LaFleur to come over and offer support. As teammates kneeled around him, Doubs eventually struggled to his feet and proceeded to walk off the field slowly, aided by trainers. The team later reported that he was undergoing evaluation for a potential concussion, leaving his ability to return in doubt.

Shortly thereafter, Reed left the game due to a shoulder injury sustained while being tackled by Eagles’ defender Reed Blankenship, with just two minutes left in the third quarter. His status for a return was also deemed questionable by Philadelphia.

In a separate incident, Dean suffered a knee injury late in the first half and had to be carted off the field. The Eagles quickly announced that he would not be returning to the game. His exit came on the heels of cornerback Darius Slay briefly departing the field with an elbow issue. Slay, however, managed to return before halftime and made a notable play, intercepting a pass from Green Bay’s Jordan Love—marking Slay’s first interception since October 2023.

The injury woes did not end there for the Packers, as they lost starting left guard Elgton Jenkins to a stinger and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt to a lower leg injury during the first quarter. Both players were confirmed to be out for the remainder of the game shortly after halftime.
