FAIRFIELD, Conn. — In a thrilling matchup on Friday evening, Deon Perry led the Fairfield Stags to a hard-fought 68-64 win over the Iona Gaels, finishing the game with an impressive 22 points.
Perry exhibited remarkable efficiency, hitting 7 of his 10 attempts from the field and sinking all six of his free throws, contributing significantly to the Stags’ success.
Michael Rogan also made a notable impact, scoring 11 points, including three successful 3-pointers out of five attempts, while adding three steals to his performance.
Braden Sparks chipped in with 10 points, although he had a tougher night shooting, going 3 for 11 from the floor and 1 for 5 from beyond the arc, while managing to convert three of his five free throw attempts.
This victory marked a much-needed end to a five-game losing streak for Fairfield, improving their overall record to 6-9 and 2-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
On the other side of the court, Adam Njie was a standout for the Gaels, contributing 18 points and four steals to the team’s efforts.
James Patterson supported the team with 14 points and secured nine rebounds, alongside two steals.
Dejour Reaves also played a role in the contest, adding nine points to Iona’s total.
