Sydney court appearance of Australian woman claiming to be half-sister of Philippine president

SYDNEY – A woman from Australia, claiming to be the half-sister of the Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., appeared in a court in Sydney on Friday facing accusations related to a disruptive incident aboard an aircraft. She has committed to abstain from consuming alcohol at airports or on flights while she remains on bail.

Analisa Josefa Corr has been charged with assaulting another passenger outside an airplane restroom, following an incident where she and her husband, James Alexander Corr, allegedly brought their own alcohol onto the flight and became inebriated. Upon landing in Sydney, the couple was escorted to a local police station where charges were filed against them.

The 53-year-old Corr asserts that she is the offspring of Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the former President of the Philippines who was a dictator until his removal during the pro-democracy movement in 1986. He passed away in exile in Hawaii in 1989 at the age of 72. Moreover, she claims a sibling relationship with the current president, which Marcos Jr. has previously dismissed as mere rumors.

Corr’s mother was the Australian model Evelin Hegyesi, who allegedly had an affair with Marcos Sr. in the 1970s when she was just 19. At that time, Marcos Sr. was wed to Imelda Marcos, with whom he fathered three children.

During her court appearance at the Downing Center Local Court, Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Antrum approved the return of the couple’s passports under specific conditions, including a prohibition on alcohol consumption on flights or in Australian international or domestic airport terminals.

Furthermore, both defendants consented to deposit 20,000 Australian dollars (approximately $12,400) each with the court, which may be forfeited should they violate the imposed conditions.

The attorney representing Corr, Jasmina Ceic, mentioned to the court that her client requires her passport for international travel. “She’s currently undertaking a project in Indonesia and intends to remain there until the end of March,” Ceic added.

The couple faces charges for not adhering to safety instructions from cabin crew and for consuming alcohol not supplied by flight attendants on a Jetstar flight from Hobart to Sydney on December 28. They entered a plea of not guilty to all charges during their initial appearance in court on Monday, with the case scheduled to be heard again on February 24.

Analisa Corr is also described in an online biography as a photographer and interior designer who operates a photography business located in Queensland’s Gold Coast. Notably, her middle name Josefa reflects the name of Marcos Sr.’s mother.
