Houston Secures Seventh Consecutive Victory, Defeating TCU 65-46

HOUSTON — Emanuel Sharp contributed 14 points while J’Wan Roberts added 12 as the No. 12 Houston team secured a 65-46 victory over TCU on Monday night, marking their seventh consecutive win.

L.J. Cryer also scored 10 points for Houston (11-3, 3-0 Big 12), which displayed a solid shooting performance, hitting 48% from the field and making 8 of 19 attempts from beyond the arc. This win signifies the Cougars’ impressive streak of 31 home victories.

Noah Reynolds led TCU with 19 points, joined by Vasean Allette who contributed 11. The Horned Frogs (8-6, 1-2) managed to shoot 43% overall, but their three-point shooting was below par, finishing with just 3 of 18 attempts.

Key Observations:

For TCU, it’s clear that there’s a need for greater scoring from their bench players. Remarkably, the points from TCU’s starters accounted for every single score until the final 30 seconds of play, with reserves only managing to contribute two points. On the Houston side of things, the Cougars’ performance was somewhat erratic; they opened strong, hitting their first six shots and building a 13-4 lead, but then struggled with a 6 for 24 performance as TCU began to narrow the gap. However, Houston turned things around by hitting nine consecutive field goals, extending their lead decisively.

A pivotal moment in the game occurred early in the second half when Roberts made a layup, pushing Houston’s lead to 29-26 and igniting a 9-0 scoring run that ensured their lead never fell below double digits again.

A standout statistic from the matchup highlighted Houston’s defense, as they forced TCU into a season-high 19 turnovers while limiting the Horned Frogs to only four assists on 20 made field goals.

Looking ahead, Houston will travel to face Kansas State on Saturday, while TCU will host BYU on the same day.
