Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck request court endorsement for their divorce agreement

LOS ANGELES — Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have reached an agreement regarding their divorce and are seeking a judge’s approval to finalize the dissolution of their marriage.

On Monday, Lopez submitted paperwork to the Los Angeles Superior Court, indicating that they mediated their divorce settlement in September, just a month after she initiated the divorce process.

While the specifics surrounding their finances remained largely undisclosed, the pair has agreed that neither will provide spousal support to the other. Additionally, Lopez plans to revert to using her maiden name once the divorce is officially concluded.

The couple exchanged vows in July 2022, but Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, citing that they had separated in April of the same year in their legal documents.

Lopez and Affleck first met, fell in love, and became engaged in the early 2000s, sharing the screen in the 2003 film “Gigli” and the 2004 movie “Jersey Girl.” However, their relationship ended due to various challenges, including intense media scrutiny.

After nearly twenty years apart, they shocked fans by reuniting and ultimately tying the knot.

Records submitted on Monday confirmed that the couple skillfully navigated their financial settlement privately, avoiding prolonged court disputes.

Neither Lopez nor Affleck have children together. Affleck has three children from his previous marriage to Jennifer Garner, which ended in 2018. Conversely, Lopez has been married four times and is a mother to twins with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.

The news of their settlement was initially reported by a celebrity news outlet.
