Tulane defeats UTSA 92-63 as Banks scores 24 points

NEW ORLEANS — In an impressive display, Kaleb Banks scored 24 points as Tulane triumphed over UTSA with a commanding score of 92-63 on Saturday night.

In addition to his scoring prowess, Banks contributed significantly with six rebounds, three steals, and three blocks, helping the Green Wave improve their record to 8-7 and maintain an unblemished 2-0 start in the American Athletic Conference. Rowan Brumbaugh also shone, netting 23 points while efficiently shooting 80% from the field (8 for 10), including 50% from beyond the arc (2 for 4), and hitting 5 of 6 free throws. Brumbaugh further complemented his performance with five rebounds and six assists.

Kam Williams added to the scoring effort with 11 points, going 3 of 6 from the field, which included 2 for 4 from three-point range, and finishing a perfect 3 for 3 from the free-throw line.

For the Roadrunners, Raekwon Horton emerged as the top scorer with 17 points, alongside nine rebounds and three steals. Tai’Reon Joseph contributed 14 points and two steals, while Jaquan Scott chipped in with eight points as UTSA fell to 6-7 and began conference play at 0-1.

Tulane wasted no time in claiming the lead, taking control just 27 seconds into the game and never looking back. Banks was instrumental in the first half, scoring 13 points to help the team establish a significant 47-23 lead at halftime. The Green Wave continued to build on their advantage in the second half, reaching a high of 74-39, highlighted by a striking 11-point scoring run. Banks again led the charge with 11 points in the second half, guiding Tulane to an emphatic victory.
