LEXINGTON, Va. — The Mercer Bears managed to secure a narrow victory over VMI with a final score of 70-67 on Saturday, thanks in large part to a standout performance from Jah Nze, who scored 25 points.

Nze was impressive throughout the game, making 8 of 12 attempts from the field and sinking 5 out of 8 three-point shots. He also contributed by hitting 4 of 5 shots from the charity stripe. With this win, Mercer improved its record to 9-6 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Conference.
Alex Holt was also a key player for the Bears, contributing 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Ahmad Robinson matched Holt’s scoring with another 11 points to support the team’s efforts.
On the opposing side, Rickey Bradley, Jr. led the VMI Keydets with an outstanding performance, scoring 30 points and registering three steals. His efforts, however, were not enough to clinch the victory for his team. AJ Clark also had a notable game for VMI, finishing with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, along with three steals. Augustinas Kiudulas added nine points and six rebounds to the mix as well.
The game concluded dramatically, as Tyler Johnson stepped up to make two crucial free throws with just 2 seconds left on the clock, solidifying the victory for Mercer. In a last-ditch effort, VMI’s Rickey Bradley Jr. attempted a three-pointer at the buzzer but missed, sealing the game’s outcome.
