The Los Angeles Chargers made a significant move by activating safety Alohi Gilman from injured reserve on Saturday. He is anticipated to join the team in their season finale against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday as the Chargers (10-6) head into the playoffs.

Gilman had been sidelined for the last five games due to a hamstring issue. Throughout this season, the five-year veteran has participated in ten games, amassing 47 tackles and one interception. His return is crucial, especially considering the team’s current safety depth.

The Chargers have been facing challenges in their secondary after safety Elijah Molden experienced a broken fibula during the second half against New England on December 28. Molden had been a vital part of the defense, ranking second on the team with three interceptions this year.

In addition to the safety concerns, linebacker Denzel Perryman has been ruled out for Sunday’s game due to a groin injury. Other notable absences include running back Gus Edwards, who is dealing with an ankle injury, and wide receiver Josh Palmer, suffering from a foot injury; both were confirmed out on Friday.

To bolster their roster, the Chargers have elevated wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick and safety Eddie Jackson from the practice squad, further preparing for their matchup.
