LOS ANGELES — Anthony Davis will not be participating in the Los Angeles Lakers’ matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday evening as he takes time to recover from a sprained left ankle. This will mark only the second game he has missed this season.
The Lakers (18-14) have also announced that point guard Gabe Vincent will be sidelined due to a strain in his left oblique, confirmed approximately three hours before the game at their home court against Portland.
Despite facing various injuries and discomfort throughout the season, including a significant eye injury earlier, Davis has been a regular performer, appearing in 31 of the Lakers’ first 32 games. He sustained the ankle injury during the Lakers’ win over the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, yet continued to play through it during the holiday period.
In his 13th NBA season, Davis boasts an impressive average of 26.1 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 blocked shots per game, showcasing his vital role in the team’s performance.
