NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In an impressive display, Vanderbilt triumphed over New Orleans with a commanding score of 100-56 on Monday night, marking the conclusion of their nonconference schedule with a six-game winning streak. Tyler Nickel was a standout performer, sinking five 3-pointers and racking up 19 points as the Commodores improved their home record to 8-0 this season.

Nickel connected on 7 of his 14 shots, while Devin McGlockton added a strong presence with a double-double, accumulating 14 points and 10 rebounds, marking his third of the season. Jason Edwards contributed significantly as well, landing three 3-pointers for a total of 17 points, and Tyler Tanner, who came off the bench, added 16 points, in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

James White led the Privateers with 18 points, although he faced challenges, shooting 6-for-17 from the field. New Orleans has struggled recently, losing 8 of their last 9 games, particularly on the road where they currently sit at 2-11 for the season.

Edwards’ 3-pointers were impactful during the first half, where he scored 13 points to propel Vanderbilt to a strong 51-28 lead by halftime. The Commodores quickly established their dominance, never relinquishing their lead from the outset, with McGlockton and Chris Manon combining for the opening baskets.

Early in the second half, Nickel’s 3-pointer extended Vanderbilt’s advantage to 62-30 just over three minutes in. He then added another one, pushing the score to 84-42 with just under seven minutes remaining. The Commodores led by as much as 50 points at times, reaching the century mark for the third time this season when Miles Keeffe made a free throw with just 53 seconds left on the clock.

Vanderbilt will begin its Southeastern Conference play against LSU on Saturday, hoping to continue their strong performance. Conversely, New Orleans will look to turn their fortunes around as they head back home to face UT Rio Grande Valley in their Southland Conference matchup.
