OXFORD, Ohio — In a dominating performance on Monday night, Dan Luers came off the bench to score 20 points, leading Miami University (OH) to a resounding 141-58 victory over NAIA opponent Defiance. This remarkable game not only highlighted Luers’ talent but also marked a historic moment for the RedHawks as they set new program records for the most points scored in a single game and the highest points scored in a half, with 74 points in the first half alone.

Luers displayed impressive shooting skills, making 7 of 11 attempts from the field, which included 3 of 4 from three-point range, and going a perfect 3 for 3 at the charity stripe. Alongside Luers, Kam Craft made a significant contribution with 19 points, demonstrating remarkable efficiency by shooting 7 of 9, including 5 of 7 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Evan Ipsaro added 17 points to the scoreboard, shooting 6 of 7 from the field and successfully converting all four of his free-throw attempts while also providing seven assists for his teammates.

For the Yellow Jackets, the leading scorer was Donovan Stone, who managed to net 11 points. Zahyem Bradwell and Evan Angstmann each contributed nine points in what turned out to be a challenging game for Defiance.

The RedHawks seized control of the game early, taking the lead just under two minutes into the first half at the 18:37 mark and never relinquishing it. By halftime, Miami was ahead 74-25, thanks in part to Mekhi Cooper, who had contributed 14 points during the first half. The second half saw Miami extend its already commanding lead to 88-25, highlighted by a 14-0 scoring spree that further showcased their offensive dominance. Luers led the charge in the final half, scoring another 12 points to seal the victory for Miami.
