Thunder inks multi-year extension with defensive guard Alex Caruso

Oklahoma City has made a significant move by securing Alex Caruso with a multi-year contract extension, as announced on Sunday.
Caruso’s representative, Greg Lawrence, has confirmed that the deal spans four years and is valued at $81 million.
This agreement follows Caruso’s addition to the Thunder during the offseason, which involved a trade that sent Josh Giddey to the Chicago Bulls.

Since joining the Thunder, the 30-year-old Caruso has quickly adapted to his new environment, posting averages of 5.7 points and 2.4 assists per game, while also ranking sixth in the league with an impressive 1.9 steals per contest.
His experience has proven to be invaluable as he steps into a leadership role on one of the youngest teams in the NBA.
Alongside teammate Lu Dort, Caruso has been instrumental in pressuring rival backcourts, helping the Thunder achieve an exceptional 22-5 record, which is the best in the Western Conference.

Furthermore, Oklahoma City currently stands at the top of several defensive statistics, leading the league in defensive rating as well as opponent field goal percentage, three-point percentage, points allowed per game, forced turnovers, steals, and deflections.
Caruso previously earned recognition as an elite perimeter defender during his four seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and another three years with the Chicago Bulls.
He received all-defense first team honors in 2023 and was named to the second team in 2024, highlighting his defensive capabilities and commitment to excellence on the court.
