AKRON, Ohio – In a commanding performance, Greta Kampschroeder achieved a personal best of 23 points, including five three-pointers, propelling No. 20 Michigan to a decisive 96-55 victory over Akron on Friday.

Kampschroeder’s contributions allowed Michigan to establish a strong 51-29 advantage by halftime, where she tallied 17 points and was instrumental from beyond the arc. The Wolverines showcased their shooting prowess by hitting 9 of 15 attempts from three-point range and going a perfect 10 for 10 from the charity stripe, ultimately achieving an impressive 57% shooting overall. Conversely, Akron struggled with ball control, registering 16 turnovers that Michigan capitalized on for 17 points, and they managed only 12 field goals by halftime.

The Zips faced significant challenges as they were limited to just 11 points during both the first and third quarters, culminating in a total of 29 turnovers throughout the game. Jordan Hobbs contributed 13 points, while Yulia Grabovskaia added 12 points and secured nine rebounds for Michigan (10-2). The Wolverines concluded their nonconference schedule with this matchup, marking their first true road game. Freshmen Olivia Olson and Mila Holloway each chipped in with 11 points.

For Akron (5-6), Shelbee Brown was a highlight in the first half, scoring 14 of the team’s 29 points and making six of the 12 successful field goals. However, her scoring dried up in the second half. Liisa Taponen contributed by grabbing 11 rebounds to go along with her six points.

This victory marked Michigan’s second win against a Mid-American Conference opponent this season, having previously triumphed over Central Michigan with a score of 99-62 on November 14.

Looking ahead, Michigan is set to face No. 7 USC on December 29 in a Big Ten Conference clash as they navigate a challenging slate of four top-15 opponents within a five-game stretch. Meanwhile, Akron will enjoy a break of more than a week before their next game against Miami University-Hamilton on December 28.
