MANCHESTER, England — Manchester City has faced another setback this season, as it has been confirmed that defender Ruben Dias will be sidelined for approximately four weeks due to a muscle injury.
The reigning Premier League champions have been struggling, winning only one of their last 11 matches across all competitions while suffering eight defeats.
Manager Pep Guardiola has pointed to injuries to critical players like Rodri as a significant factor contributing to the team’s current difficulties, and Dias’ injury only adds to these complications.
Guardiola disclosed that Dias sustained the injury during the recent Manchester derby where City fell 2-1 to Manchester United.
“After 75 minutes against United, he felt something. He’s a tough player and wanted to continue, but now he’s dealing with an injury,” Guardiola mentioned during a press briefing.
The manager also indicated uncertainty over goalkeeper Ederson’s participation in Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa, but he expressed hope that players like John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, and Manuel Akanji may be available.
Additionally, Rico Lewis has returned from suspension, which Guardiola noted positively, stating, “The more players that return to the squad, the better our chances will be.”
City is looking to recover and regain its form as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
