DUNKIRK, France — Authorities in France are looking into the fatal shooting of five individuals in the Dunkirk region on Saturday. A 22-year-old male subsequently surrendered to law enforcement officials, as reported by local news sources and authorities.
Initially, the unidentifiable owner of a business in Wormhout, situated south of Dunkirk, was shot and killed. This was followed by the shooting of two private security personnel and two migrants in Loon-Plage, which is located just west of Dunkirk. These details were confirmed by the Interior Ministry.
The prosecutor for Dunkirk stated that the suspect arrived at the gendarmerie brigade in Ghyvelde, to the east of Dunkirk, around 5:20 p.m. He admitted to the five killings. According to the prosecutor, the suspect had no prior criminal record and was taken into custody. Additionally, several firearms were discovered in the individual’s vehicle.
Investigators are currently working to uncover the motive behind these tragic events. Firearm-related incidents of this nature are notably infrequent in France.
