In an intense matchup on Saturday, the Maine Black Bears emerged victorious against the Canisius Golden Griffins, clinching an 84-79 win in Buffalo, N.Y.
Quion Burns showcased an impressive performance, contributing 17 points and grabbing seven rebounds for the Black Bears, who improved their season record to 8-5.
Kellen Tynes also had a standout game, scoring 15 points with a flawless shooting display, hitting all five of his field goal attempts and going perfect from the free-throw line, while also dishing out nine assists.
Christopher Mantis added another 15 points to the Black Bears’ tally, shooting at an efficient rate of 5-for-8 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.
On the other side, Jasman Sangha was the star for the Golden Griffins, leading the team with a remarkable 26 points and recording three steals.
His efforts were complemented by Paul McMillan IV, who scored 22 points and provided six assists, along with Tana Kopa, who contributed 16 points and two steals.
Unfortunately for Canisius, this loss extends their losing streak to 11 games, leaving them with a winless record of 0-11 for the season.
Looking ahead, Maine is set to face Stony Brook in their next outing on Saturday, while Canisius will travel to play against Loyola Chicago on Wednesday.
