‘Malcolm in the Middle’ to return with fresh episodes featuring Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek

Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek will be coming together once again for a brand-new four-episode revival of the cherished sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” on Disney+, celebrating 25 years since the show’s premiere.

First launched in 2000, the series ran for seven seasons and was recognized for depicting everyday life from the perspective of a remarkable child growing up—Malcolm, portrayed by Muniz, who possesses a high genius IQ.

In a video message that accompanied the announcement, Muniz expressed his excitement, saying, “I have been waiting for this moment for 18 years. Let’s find out where Malcolm and his family are now.”

The upcoming episodes will be developed by Linwood Boomer, the original creator of the series. However, no specific release dates have been provided at this time.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, shared in a statement, “With Linwood Boomer and the creative team at the helm, these new episodes will have all the laughs, pranks, and mayhem that fans adored—along with a few surprises that remind us why this show is so timeless.”

The original “Malcolm in the Middle” aired on Fox, concluding in 2006 after gaining acclaim and winning seven Emmy Awards, including one for best writing in a comedy series. The series is currently available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

The recently announced revival hints at a plot involving Malcolm and his daughter who will find themselves caught up in their family’s antics when Hal, played by Cranston, and Lois, portrayed by Kaczmarek, call for them to be present at their 40th wedding anniversary celebration.
