HOUSTON — Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins recently received a fine of approximately $5,000 after tossing a football into the stands following a touchdown during a game against the Titans.
Collins expressed that the fine was “definitely worth it” since the ball was caught by a young fan.
“The only thing that matters was making that kid happy,” he stated on Thursday. “He ain’t never going to forget that moment. So that’s all that matters to me. It’s cool. I’ll pay the fine.”

On November 24, during the second quarter of Houston’s matchup against Tennessee, Collins caught a 5-yard touchdown pass and, excitedly, tossed the football into the crowd with an underhand throw before jumping into the stands himself.
“It’s for the kids,” he remarked, explaining that he noticed the child in the audience who was enthusiastically cheering, motivating him to pass along the ball. “I seen he was screaming and was thinking here you go big dog. Here’s the ball.”

Collins, who currently leads the Texans with 832 receiving yards, noted that he was surprised to receive a fine as he has performed similar gestures numerous times last season without facing any penalties.
“I guess they think you’re going to poke somebody in the eye or something,” he commented lightheartedly.

Although he did not disclose the specific amount of the fine, he confirmed that it was around $5,000 and mentioned his intention to appeal the decision.
