JACKSON, Miss. — A 45-year-old inmate, Gregory Trigg, who is serving over 60 years for various serious offenses, has successfully escaped from Mississippi’s highest-security prison. This incident, confirmed by the Mississippi Department of Corrections on Monday, took place at the Mississippi State Penitentiary, also referred to as Parchman Farm, located in the Sunflower County region of the Mississippi Delta.
The specific details surrounding the timing and method of Trigg’s escape have not yet been disclosed by officials. Trigg has accumulated a significant prison sentence of 61 years due to multiple convictions out of Madison County. His charges include armed robbery, two counts of kidnapping, residential burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
In addition to his Madison County sentences, Trigg faces further legal repercussions from crimes committed in other areas; these include vehicle burglary and theft in Rankin County, as well as nonresidential burglary in Scott County, according to the state corrections department.
