ELON, N.C. — On Saturday night, the Elon Phoenix triumphed over the Wofford Terriers with a decisive score of 79-56, chiefly thanks to Sam Sherry’s impressive performance, during which he scored 22 points.
Sherry showcased his shooting skills by hitting 8 of 13 attempts from the field, including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, and converting 3 of 4 from the free-throw line.
In addition to Sherry’s notable contribution, Nick Dorn contributed 15 points along with five rebounds, and TK Simpkins added another 11 points to the scoreboard for the Phoenix, who now stand at a 6-3 record.
For the Wofford Terriers, who are now at 4-6, Corey Tripp led his team with 12 points, five assists, and three steals.
Jackson Sivills and Justin Bailey also made their mark on the game, each scoring 11 points, with Sivills securing six rebounds as well.
Elon seized the advantage with 6:49 remaining in the first half, maintaining their lead throughout the contest. The halftime score was 37-29, buoyed by Dorn’s nine points in the first half.
Overall, the Phoenix displayed a strong offensive effort that kept them ahead of the Terriers, securing a solid victory at home.
