LONG BEACH, Calif. — In a thrilling matchup on Saturday night, Devin Askew showcased an impressive performance, scoring 28 points to lead Long Beach State to a 76-68 win over Hawaii.

Askew’s contributions extended beyond scoring, as he also recorded six rebounds, seven assists, and completed an impressive seven steals, helping the Beach improve their record to 3-8 overall and a solid 2-0 in the Big West Conference.

Austin Johnson also made significant contributions to the team’s victory, netting 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while TJ Wainwright added another 14 points on an efficient shooting night, hitting 5 of 9 from the field, including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc.

On the other side, the Rainbow Warriors, now at 5-3 and 0-1 in conference play, were led in scoring by Marcus Greene, who ended the game with 17 points. Gytis Nemeiksa provided support with a well-rounded performance of 14 points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Akira Jacobs chipped in 11 points for Hawaii.

Next up for Long Beach State is an away game against San Diego on Tuesday, while Hawaii is set to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday.
