YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – EJ Farmer delivered a standout performance, scoring 22 points to propel Youngstown State to a 66-50 victory over Oakland on Saturday evening.
Farmer showcased his shooting prowess, hitting 7 of 13 field goal attempts, including a remarkable 5 of 8 from beyond the arc, and converted all three of his free throws. The Penguins improved their record to 5-5 overall and maintained an unbeaten 2-0 standing in the Horizon League. In addition to Farmer’s impressive scoring, Nico Galette contributed significantly with 11 points, along with nine rebounds and six assists. Both Juwan Maxey and Jason Nelson also chipped in with 11 points each, further solidifying the team’s win.
For the Golden Grizzlies, who now stand at 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference, Allen David Mukeba Jr. led the scoring effort with 17 points. Tuburu Niavalurua supported the team by adding 12 points, with D.Q. Cole contributing 11 points as well.
Looking ahead, Youngstown State will host a matchup against Toledo next Saturday, while Oakland is set to face Michigan State on Tuesday.
