Musiala nets two goals as Bayern snaps losing streak in Kane’s absence

BERLIN — In a thrilling Bundesliga match on Saturday, Jamal Musiala made a significant impact after coming off the bench, scoring two crucial goals that propelled Bayern Munich to a 4-2 victory over Heidenheim, despite the absence of their star forward, Harry Kane, due to injury.

Bayern Munich was facing its second complete match without Kane, who strained his right hamstring during a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund the previous weekend. The team also suffered a setback in the German Cup, losing 1-0 to Bayer Leverkusen without their leading scorer.

The match kicked off with Dayot Upamecano putting Bayern in front in the 18th minute, scoring from a corner-kick situation. However, Upamecano’s mistake led to Heidenheim equalizing in the 50th minute when Mathias Honsak capitalized on a poor pass intended for goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, leaving him with a simple finish.

In a bid to regain the lead, coach Vincent Kompany introduced Musiala, substituting him for Thomas Mueller just moments after Heidenheim’s equalizer, which had disrupted Bayern’s momentum.

Musiala wasted no time in making his mark, firing Bayern back into the lead in the 56th minute with a powerful strike from just outside the box that found its way beneath goalkeeper Kevin Mueller.

As Bayern appeared to be comfortably managing the game, Leon Goretzka increased the team’s advantage to 3-1 in the 83rd minute. However, Heidenheim wasn’t finished yet, as Niklas Dorsch responded with a goal in the 85th minute, reigniting hope for the visitors.

In a nail-biting finale, Musiala sealed the win with a goal in the dying moments of injury time, scoring twice on the day to elevate his tally to eight goals, making him the leading midfielder in the Bundesliga scoring charts this season.
