MURRAY, Ky. — In a closely contested match on Tuesday, Murray State emerged victorious against Evansville with a final score of 63-61. Jacobi Wood was a standout player, contributing 21 points to the Racers’ efforts. AJ Ferguson played a crucial role in sealing the win, making a layup with just 55 seconds left on the clock.
In addition to Wood’s impressive scoring, he also recorded six rebounds and provided five assists, significantly aiding his team’s performance. Kylen Milton contributed as well, scoring 12 points, hitting four out of eight attempts and two from beyond the arc, while also grabbing seven rebounds. KyeRon Lindsay added to the scoreboard with nine points, shooting four of eight overall and missing two out of three free-throw attempts.
On the opposing side, the Purple Aces were led by Gabriel Pozzato, who managed to score 15 points and make six steals. Cameron Haffner was another notable performer for Evansville, contributing 14 points to the team’s total. Tanner Cuff rounded out the scoring with ten points and six rebounds, showcasing a balanced attack for Evansville despite the loss.
In the second half, Wood managed to add six points to his tally, helping maintain the momentum for Murray State. This win marked the Racers’ first victory in the Missouri Valley Conference, improving their overall record to 5-2.
