NEW ORLEANS — In an exciting matchup on Monday night, Jakevion Buckley showcased his skills by leading Southeast Louisiana to a narrow 71-67 triumph over Tulane.
Buckley’s performance was remarkable, contributing 18 points along with six assists and four steals for the Lions, who now hold a record of 4-4. Supporting him were teammates Sam Hines Jr. and Kam Burton, each adding 14 points to the scoreboard.
For the Green Wave, which fell to 4-5 in the season, Kam Williams emerged as the leading scorer with 19 points and managed to record three steals. Rowan Brumbaugh also had a notable impact, scoring 17 points while providing five assists. Kaleb Banks added depth to the Tulane effort with 15 points, along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
In the initial half, Buckley netted nine points, helping Southeast Louisiana secure a 31-25 lead at the halftime break. The second half proved to be thrilling, characterized by 10 lead changes and three occasions where the teams were tied. Buckley once again stepped up, scoring an additional nine points in the second half, which played a crucial role in the Lions’ victory.
