Edmonton Oilers player Jeff Skinner has received a fine of $2,000 for attempting to embellish a call during a recent match against the New York Rangers, as announced by the NHL on Monday.
This fine comes after Skinner was previously warned for a similar incident involving diving and embellishment in a game held on October 22 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The incident that resulted in the fine took place during the second period of a game on November 23, when the Oilers claimed a 6-2 victory over the Rangers.
In the game, Skinner was maneuvering the puck along the boards while being closely shadowed by Rangers defenseman K’Andre Miller. Skinner lost both his balance and possession of the puck due to what appeared to be slight contact from Miller.
Upon falling, Skinner glanced at the referee while getting back to his feet, but no penalty was awarded for the play.
The fine imposed on Skinner will be directed to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
