Christian McCaffrey of the 49ers leaves matchup with Bills due to knee injury

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The San Francisco 49ers faced a setback during their match against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night when running back Christian McCaffrey sustained a knee injury and had to leave the field limping in the second quarter.

McCaffrey incurred the injury while attempting a sweep to the left on a field made slick by the snow. He went down quickly, resulting in a 5-yard loss on the play. After the run, he was taken to the sidelines for evaluation in the medical tent, and the team subsequently reported that his return to the game was questionable.

This game marked McCaffrey’s fourth appearance in the current season, as he had previously missed the initial eight games due to Achilles tendinitis. Before his injury, McCaffrey managed to record a 19-yard run, which was his longest of the season, accumulating a total of seven carries for 53 yards along with two receptions for 14 yards.

Additionally, 49ers linebacker Fred Warner exited the game due to what the team identified as cramps, with his ability to return also deemed questionable.
