MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – In a commanding performance, Damarion Bonds came off the bench to score 22 points, helping Central Michigan secure a decisive 115-69 win against Purdue Northwest on Sunday.
Bonds also contributed significantly with five rebounds, six assists, and four steals during the game for the Chippewas, who now hold a record of 4-3.
Ugnius Jarusevicius was another standout for Central Michigan, adding 21 points along with five rebounds, while Jakobi Heady finished with 17 points, achieving an impressive shooting accuracy of 7 for 9 from the field and 2 for 3 from the free-throw line.
The scoring leader for the Lions was Collin Albert, who tallied 16 points, while Will Ashford followed closely with 14 points. Quinton McCullough also contributed to the effort with 11 points and six rebounds.
Central Michigan seized the advantage just 14 seconds into the game and maintained their lead throughout. By halftime, the Chippewas had established a significant 62-37 lead, with Jarusevicius scoring 15 points before the break.
The Chippewas further distanced themselves from Purdue Northwest in the second half, launching a decisive 14-2 run that stretched their lead from 26 points to 38. They dominated the second half, outscoring the Lions by 21 points, with Quentin Heady leading with 11 points in the latter portion of the game.
Looking ahead, Central Michigan is set to face Aquinas (MI) in their next outing on Thursday.
