TEMPE, Ariz. — In an intense contest on Saturday, Bowling Green emerged victorious against New Mexico State with a narrow score of 61-60. Marcus Johnson shone for the Falcons, contributing 23 points to help secure the win, while Javontae Campbell sealed the game with a crucial free throw just 12 seconds before the final buzzer.

Johnson also recorded five rebounds and three steals, showcasing his all-around performance for Bowling Green (3-5). Derrick Butler added 15 points, despite shooting 4 of 15 from the field, including 2 of 7 from beyond the arc, and was a perfect 5 for 5 from the free-throw line, complementing his total with five rebounds. Meanwhile, Campbell contributed 12 points, although he struggled with his shooting, hitting just 1 of 9 attempts but made a significant impact by going 10 of 12 from the charity stripe.
