ATLANTA — In a strong performance on Saturday, Georgia Tech emerged victorious against Central Arkansas with a score of 87-68. Lance Terry led the Yellow Jackets with an impressive 25 points, while Naithan George contributed significantly with 16 points and 11 assists.

The Yellow Jackets demonstrated a dominant start, shooting 53% overall and sinking 9 of 18 three-point shots in the first half, which enabled them to secure a 49-38 lead by halftime. However, their offensive momentum faced a challenge early in the second half as they struggled, hitting only one of their initial seven attempts. This allowed Central Arkansas to narrow the gap, following a personal 6-0 scoring streak from Elias Cato that brought the score to 58-51.

Georgia Tech managed to regain control by accumulating a series of four consecutive free throws, followed by a jump shot from Terry that pushed their lead to 13 points approximately 10 and a half minutes before the end of the game. The Yellow Jackets’ defense shined in the closing minutes, limiting the Bears to just two three-pointers and two free throws during the last five minutes of the contest.

Three of Georgia Tech’s final four successful shots were three-pointers, with George knocking down one that set their largest lead and ultimately established the final score margin 30 seconds prior to the buzzer. For the Yellow Jackets, Jaeden Mustaf and Baye Ndongo also made notable contributions, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds, respectively.

On the other side, the Bears’ efforts were led by Layne Taylor, who scored 20 points, while Elias Cato and Brayden Fagbemi added 17 and 15 points, respectively, for Central Arkansas. The game wrapped up with Georgia Tech shooting 48% from the field and hitting 13 out of 32 attempts from beyond the arc, compared to the Bears’ 37% shooting and 14 out of 32 from three-point range.
