In an exciting matchup on Friday night, Oklahoma clinched the Battle 4 Atlantis title by defeating Louisville with a score of 69-63. Jalon Moore had an outstanding performance, leading all scorers with 24 points, while Glenn Taylor Jr. contributed significantly by scoring 12 points, eight of which came in the crucial final six minutes of the game.
Jeremiah Fears also made his mark for the Sooners, adding 10 points to the team’s tally as Oklahoma maintained its perfect record with a 7-0 start to the season. The game remained competitive throughout, with both teams exchanging leads and momentum at various points.
Louisville managed to tie the game at 58 with a three-pointer from Reyne Smith with just five minutes remaining. However, Taylor quickly asserted his influence by scoring six consecutive points, including a critical fade-away jumper that put Oklahoma ahead 64-59 with just over a minute left on the clock. The Sooners maintained their composure in the closing moments to secure the victory.
For Louisville, J’Vonne Hadley recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, alongside contributions from his teammates Chucky Hepburn, who also scored 12 points, Terrence Edwards Jr. with 11 points, and Noah Waterman who added 10 points and grabbed 11 boards.
The first half saw Edwards score to level the game at 23, but Oklahoma responded with a surge, led by Brycen Goodine who hit two three-pointers in quick succession, including one that was followed by a free throw. This run helped Oklahoma to a 39-32 lead at halftime, as Moore delivered an emphatic dunk just before the break.
As the second half unfolded, Hadley opened the scoring for Louisville, narrowing Oklahoma’s lead to just one point at 39-38. However, the Sooners struggled offensively initially, failing to make any baskets and committing several turnovers. Despite Louisville’s efforts to close the gap and tie the game on one occasion, they could not seize control in the second half, and Oklahoma held strong to secure the victory.
