OAK PARK, Illinois — A police officer lost his life in a shooting incident in a suburb of Chicago on Friday while answering a call regarding a man exiting a bank armed with a firearm.
Detective Allan Reddins, aged 40, sustained a gunshot wound at approximately 9:30 a.m. and was declared deceased later at a nearby hospital, as reported by the local police department on their Facebook page.
In the altercation, the alleged suspect was injured in the leg and is currently receiving medical care at a hospital.
Reddins had been serving with the Oak Park police force since 2019 and was a resident of Chicago.
Oak Park is located to the west of the city of Chicago.
