ATLANTA — The status of Atlanta Falcons’ kicker Younghoe Koo for the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers remains uncertain due to an injury to his right hip.
On Friday, the Falcons listed Koo as questionable and made a move to strengthen their kicking game by signing Riley Patterson to their practice squad.
This season, Koo has successfully converted 19 out of 26 field goals. He faced challenges in a recent match against the New Orleans Saints on November 10, where he managed to make only one field goal out of four attempts in a narrow 20-17 defeat. However, he bounced back during a subsequent game against the Denver Broncos on November 17, making both of his attempts in a lopsided 38-6 loss.
Adding to the team’s injury woes, cornerback Mike Hughes has been ruled out for Sunday’s game due to a neck injury.
Riley Patterson joined the Falcons after being originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2021. Over his career, he has had stints with multiple teams, including the New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Washington Commanders, and New York Jets. He has an impressive career record, having made 59 of 67 field goal attempts and 97 of 100 extra point tries.
To make room for Patterson on the practice squad, the Falcons have released safety Dane Cruikshank.
