LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Kelsey Plum, an impressive player for the Las Vegas Aces, has announced she will not be participating in the upcoming 3-on-3 women’s league named Unrivaled, choosing instead to focus on personal time during the offseason.
Plum shared her decision on social media earlier this week. The Unrivaled league, which is co-founded by notable players Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is set to kick off its season on January 17 and will continue through March, with all competitions taking place in Miami.
Initially, Plum was slated to join the roster of the Aces, one of the six competing teams in the league. Other expected players from the Aces include Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams from the Minnesota Lynx, Alyssa Thomas from the Connecticut Sun, and Stephanie Dolson from the Washington Mystics.
In her statement, Plum expressed gratitude to the league for their understanding regarding her decision. “I wish the league and all of the players nothing but the best and I’m excited to watch!” she remarked in her social media post.
Notably, Caitlin Clark, the WNBA rookie of the year from Indiana, has also opted out of participating in the league.
At the age of 30, Plum was active in 44 games throughout the WNBA season, including playoff matches, and she represented Team USA this summer, contributing to their gold medal victory at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Additionally, Plum earned her third consecutive selection for the WNBA All-Star game.
