ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands – UAB emerged victorious against Louisiana, clinching a 98-86 win on Monday evening, powered by standout performances from their key players.

Alejandro Vasquez led the Blazers with a total of 25 points, showcasing his versatility by shooting 8 for 19 from the field, including 2 for 9 from beyond the arc. He was flawless from the free-throw line, converting all his attempts (7 for 7). Yaxel Lendeborg also made a significant contribution, scoring 20 points on an impressive 9 for 12 shooting, with 2 for 3 from three-point range, while also grabbing six rebounds. Christian Coleman added 16 points to the tally, hitting 7 of 13 shots.

For the Ragin’ Cajuns, Mostapha El Moutaouakkil was the leading scorer, notching 19 points. His teammates also made notable contributions, with Christian Wright scoring 15 points along with providing six assists, and Koron Davis adding 14 points of his own.

In the first half, Coleman provided a solid start for UAB with 10 points, but the team went into halftime slightly behind, with Louisiana leading 44-42. However, Vasquez turned up the heat in the second half, scoring 17 points which were instrumental in UAB turning the game around.
