TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Luke Kromenhoek had an impressive outing as he passed for 209 yards and threw three touchdown passes, leading Florida State to a 41-7 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday.
Kromenhoek, making his first start in college football, completed 13 of 20 attempts, highlighted by a stunning 71-yard touchdown connection with Ja’Khi Douglas. The true freshman also found Amaree Williams for a 4-yard touchdown and Hykeem Williams for another scoring pass from 10 yards out.
The Seminoles, who had been struggling with the lowest scoring offense in the nation at an average of 13.3 points per game, celebrated their first win since September 21. Until this matchup, Florida State had not managed to score more than 21 points or exceed 300 total offensive yards during the year. However, they dominated against Charleston Southern, racking up a total of 415 offensive yards.
On the other side, Kaleb Jackson led the Buccaneers by completing 22 out of 32 passes for 218 yards, which included a 7-yard touchdown pass to Landon Sauers. He also had one interception during the game.
In reviewing the performance, Charleston Southern struggled to maintain momentum despite some initial passing success, finishing the game with just 57 rushing yards on 29 attempts.
Meanwhile, Florida State stands out with a season-high rushing total of 176 yards. They found their rhythm in the second quarter, scoring 17 points, and followed up with 14 points in the third quarter to take a firm grip on the game.
Looking ahead, Charleston Southern has concluded its season, while Florida State prepares to host their in-state rivals, Florida, on November 30.
