CLINTON, S.C. — In a thrilling conclusion to the regular season on Saturday, Quante Jennings delivered an impressive performance with 190 rushing yards, including a pivotal tiebreaking touchdown, leading the Presbyterian Blue Hose to a 30-20 victory over the Butler Bulldogs.
Quarterback Collin Hurst contributed significantly by passing for 172 yards and tossing two touchdown passes for Presbyterian (6-6, 4-4 in the Pioneer League). On the other side, Butler’s Reagan Andrew managed three touchdown throws but also faced one interception in the game.
The action heated up in the third quarter when Jennings executed a remarkable 50-yard run, setting the stage for Hurst to connect with Worth Warner on a 17-yard touchdown pass, tying the game at 20. Shortly after, Presbyterian capitalized on a short punt from Butler that positioned them at the Bulldogs’ 30-yard line. This led to a 10-yard scoring run by Jennings five plays later, giving Presbyterian the lead.
To extend their advantage, Peter Lipscombe knocked a field goal through the uprights with just 2:15 remaining, capping a meticulous 15-play drive that spanned 89 yards and consumed more than 10 minutes off the clock. Although Andrew later found Ethan Loss for a 42-yard touchdown to narrow the gap, Presbyterian managed to recover the ensuing onside kick, securing their victory.
This win marks a significant milestone for the Blue Hose, as they defeated a ranked FCS opponent for the first time in their Division I history, with Butler ranked No. 23 in the coaches’ poll. The match highlighted a remarkable performance from Presbyterian as they capped off their season with a memorable victory.
