New York City — Ethan Greenwood contributed significantly to Long Island University’s victory, scoring two touchdowns, including a spectacular 56-yard run that initiated the game’s scoring. Additionally, in the fourth quarter, Ludovick Choquette added to the team’s lead with a 2-yard touchdown plunge, leading the Sharks to a 35-28 triumph over Wagner in their season finale held on Saturday.

Despite a challenging start to the season with six consecutive losses, the Sharks rallied to secure four wins in their last six outings, concluding the season with a 4-8 record (3-3 in the Northeast Conference). Conversely, Wagner, ending their own campaign on a low note, fell short in their last four games, finishing with a 4-8 record (2-4 in conference play).

The Sharks began strong as Greenwood led his team down the field, reaching the Wagner 19-yard line before a fourth-down stop halted their progress. Wagner, however, struggled to gain momentum on their opening possession and was forced to pump the ball. During LIU’s next drive, Greenwood showcased his speed, breaking through the defense for a remarkable 56-yard run, putting the Sharks up 7-0. Following a three-and-out from Wagner, LIU executed a swift four-play drive covering 75 yards, with a successful pass from Greenwood to Howell extending the lead to 14-0. The Seahawks began to find their rhythm thanks to a pass interference call that helped set up a 35-yard reception from Jake Cady to Jaylen Bonelli, ultimately resulting in Rickey Spruill’s 3-yard touchdown, narrowing the score to 14-7.

Late in the third quarter, LIU orchestrated a methodical 12-play, 75-yard drive culminating in Choquette’s touchdown that pushed their lead to 35-21 with just under 12 minutes remaining. Wagner responded with a 13-play, 65-yard drive that concluded with a 1-yard touchdown run by Cady, closing the gap to one touchdown. However, a late-game drive aimed at tying the score fell short when Cady’s pass from the LIU 12-yard line was incomplete with just five seconds left on the clock.

In the game, Greenwood demonstrated his dual-threat capability, completing 8 of 12 passes for 129 yards, despite throwing an interception. He also contributed significantly on the ground, rushing 18 times for 133 yards, including a 5-yard rushing touchdown that made the score 21-14 by halftime. On the opposing side, Cady’s performance included 15 completions on 29 attempts for 143 yards.
