NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Kobe Stewart played a pivotal role in Presbyterian’s victory over Monmouth, contributing 17 points in a 71-61 win on Saturday.
Stewart also showcased his versatility with five rebounds and six assists for the Blue Hose, who now have a record of 5-3. Kory Mincy supported the team’s efforts with 16 points, shooting 36.4% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line, along with five rebounds. Additionally, Jamahri Harvey added to the scoreboard with 13 points, hitting three shots from beyond the arc on his way to a 5-for-14 shooting performance.
On the other hand, the Hawks faced continued struggles, recorded at 0-8 this season. Jack Collins was the standout player for Monmouth, finishing the game with 25 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Justin Ray contributed 12 points along with a pair of steals, while Madison Durr chipped in with seven points. This defeat marked the eighth consecutive loss for Monmouth.
Presbyterian seized control of the game late in the first half around the 4:56 mark and maintained their advantage throughout the contest. Stewart’s impressive first-half performance, where he scored 13 points, propelled the team to a 45-32 lead at halftime. The Blue Hose further extended their lead in the second half with a strong 8-0 run, achieving a 17-point advantage at 61-44 with 8:51 remaining in the game before ultimately sealing the victory.
