GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Tre Harris, a standout wide receiver for Mississippi, made a comeback after sidelining himself for three games due to a lower-body injury. However, his return took a concerning turn during Saturday’s matchup against Florida when he left the game due to what appeared to be a groin injury.
Harris sustained the injury in the second quarter while attempting to secure a leaping catch along the Ole Miss sideline. During the play, his leg seemed to be forced into an awkward position, leading to the drop of the pass as he fell. The officials deemed it an incomplete pass, and medical staff assisted him off the field towards the locker room.
This marked the second injury of the game for the ninth-ranked Rebels in the first half against the Gators. Safety Yam Banks also faced an unfortunate injury to his left knee while trying to defend a touchdown pass from quarterback DJ Lagway to Elijhah Badger. His situation necessitated being taken off the field via a cart.
Before his injury, Harris was having a strong season, leading his team with 59 receptions and ranking first in the conference with a remarkable 987 yards receiving. Notably, he secured a 43-yard touchdown reception earlier in the second quarter, contributing effectively to his team’s performance.
