KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In a commanding performance, Justin Hill led Wichita State to an 88-63 triumph over Saint Louis during the Hall of Fame Classic on Friday evening.

Hill contributed significantly to the Shockers’ (5-0) success, scoring 17 points. His shooting stats included 5 for 16 overall and a 1 for 6 mark from beyond the arc, alongside a perfect 6 for 6 from the charity stripe. Additionally, Corey Washington added 13 points and recorded eight rebounds, while A.J. McGinnis chipped in with 12 points.

For the Billikens, Kalu Anya was a standout, finishing the game with 15 points, nine rebounds, and two steals, matching Kellen Thames, who also scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Larry Hughes Jr. contributed with 10 points to the Saint Louis effort.

The turning point came with 2:49 remaining in the first half, as Wichita State seized the lead and maintained it for the remainder of the game. They went into the halftime break with a narrow edge of 40-37, bolstered by Quincy Ballard’s eight points.

Wichita State ultimately secured their victory by launching a decisive 12-3 run late in the game. Washington emerged as a key performer in the second half, contributing 10 points to the team’s scoring surge.

Looking ahead, Wichita State is set to face off against Minnesota on Thursday in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, as they participate in the first round of the ESPN Events Invitational.

Saint Louis, on the other hand, will prepare to host Quinnipiac come Monday.
