LOS ANGELES — Snoop Dogg and Simone Biles have transformed their bond formed during this summer’s Paris Olympics into an exciting new collaboration: they will appear together on NBC’s “The Voice.”
Biles is set to join Snoop during an episode of the popular singing competition, which will air on Monday. As a coach on the show, Snoop has brought in Biles as a mentor to guide five contestants during the playoff rounds who are competing for a chance to perform in the live shows.
The chemistry between Snoop and Biles proved to be a great fit for both these iconic figures from the worlds of sports and music, seamlessly transitioning their connection from the Olympic stage to television.
In a recent chat following the filming of the episode in Los Angeles, Biles expressed how enjoyable it was to work with Snoop. “We were able to riff off each other and provide the best insights to the artists as they prepare for the next round,” she said.
Biles, who stands as the most decorated gymnast of all time with four Olympic medals, including three golds, noted the ease of their collaboration. “We’re both pretty relaxed, but we know how to amp the energy when necessary. It was important for us to boost the participants’ confidence going into the following week,” she added.
While Biles is celebrated for her athletic achievements, she found common ground with the aspiring singers, drawing from her own experiences. “These are the steps you take—learn, adapt, and practice. Each of them has the vocal ability; it’s about knowing how to showcase that and figuring out which songs fit them best,” she explained. “It’s essential for them to consider what they want their legacy to be, as this show truly emphasizes auditory talent over appearance.”
Despite charting different paths in their careers, Snoop and Biles hold a shared respect for each other’s successes on major platforms.
Snoop commented on their unique journeys. “Our careers may be distinct, but the struggles they’ve faced are quite similar to what we’ve each gone through,” said the renowned entertainer, who has also served as a special correspondent during NBC’s extensive Olympic coverage. Alongside coaches Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, and Gwen Stefani, Snoop aims to discover the next vocal talent.
He emphasized the importance of imparting knowledge and confidence to the contestants. “We have valuable insights born from our experiences as performers. We’ve faced pressures and challenges behind the scenes that others may not see, so we can offer genuine reassurance,” he stated.
During the Olympics, Snoop and Biles shared several memorable moments, including cheering for Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone during her race, celebrating Ronald Biles’ 75th birthday with a special gift, and seeing Snoop joining in on the fun during the gymnastics qualifying round.
While on the set of “The Voice,” Biles appeared delighted to witness Snoop’s natural charisma. “I had faith that Snoop would remain authentic on ‘The Voice.’ It’s refreshing to see that there’s no need to conform; everyone can find their space,” she remarked.
Snoop reflected on their collaborative effort, expressing that the pairing felt right. “This is like family. It’s uplifting,” he said. “Simone is capable of anything she sets her mind to. We both have the freedom to choose our ventures now, and it should always feel genuine—if it’s forced, then it’s not worth doing.”
