SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Christoph Tilly had an outstanding performance, scoring 20 points in Santa Clara’s dominating 96-54 win against UC Riverside on Tuesday.
Tilly also contributed five rebounds, five assists, and three blocks, playing a pivotal role for the Broncos, who now hold a record of 2-3.
Adama Bal was another standout player, netting 17 points with an impressive shooting performance of 5 for 8, including 3 for 4 from beyond the arc, alongside a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line.
Johnny O’Neil added to the score with 14 points, shooting 5 of 6 from the field, and almost exclusively from three-point territory, converting 4 of 5 attempts. He also secured seven rebounds during his time on the court.
For UC Riverside, Joel Armotrading and Rikus Schulte both finished the game with 11 points each, contributing to the team’s efforts despite the heavy loss. Armotrading additionally grabbed six rebounds and recorded two blocks. Barrington Hargress helped keep the scoreboard ticking with 10 points and provided seven assists for the Highlanders, who also hold a record of 2-3.
Santa Clara seized control of the game with 11:16 remaining in the first half and maintained their lead throughout the match. Tilly was instrumental during the first half, scoring 12 points and assisting the Broncos in building a substantial 43-21 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, Santa Clara continued their offensive onslaught, outpacing UC Riverside by 20 points, with Bal leading the scoring for the Broncos in the latter half, contributing 10 points.
