MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — In a decisive matchup on Tuesday night, the No. 13 ranked West Virginia women’s basketball team triumphed over Bowling Green with a commanding score of 78-47, led by Jordan Harrison, who scored 20 points.

Initially, the Falcons kept pace with the Mountaineers, trailing narrowly at 18-15 by the end of the first quarter. However, the game shifted dramatically in the second quarter when West Virginia started strong, scoring the first six points. They then went on to dominate the latter part of the quarter, finishing with an impressive 11-0 run that included three-pointers from various players, bringing the halftime score to 37-19 in favor of the Mountaineers.

West Virginia exhibited impressive shooting, making 8 of 15 attempts from the field during that quarter, while Bowling Green struggled, hitting only 2 of 12 shots and suffering from nine turnovers.

Contributing to the Mountaineers’ success, JJ Quinerly added 14 points along with six assists and four steals, while Celia Riviere came off the bench to score 11 points. Overall, West Virginia recorded a field goal percentage of 53% but faced difficulties at the free-throw line, making just 12 of 21 attempts. They also recorded 16 turnovers throughout the game.

Amy Velasco was the standout for Bowling Green, netting 18 points. However, the Falcons struggled with ball control, committing 27 turnovers that allowed West Virginia to capitalize for 36 points. Velasco also impressed in the third quarter, sinking three three-pointers, which helped reduce a 20-point deficit to just 13 points.

Despite Bowling Green’s efforts, West Virginia responded decisively. Jordan Thomas and Kylee Blacksten significantly contributed with two layups each, and Kyah Watson finalized an 11-0 run with a three-pointer, pushing the lead to 55-31.

The Mountaineers solidified their dominance in the fourth quarter, unleashing a remarkable 15-0 run that secured their extensive victory.
