ITHACA, N.Y. — In a thrilling matchup, Alan Zhao successfully kicked four field goals from beyond 30 yards, while quarterback Jameson Wang contributed significantly with two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown, leading Cornell to a 39-22 victory over No. 24 Dartmouth. This impressive win disrupted Dartmouth’s attempt to maintain a share of the Ivy League lead and marked the first time since 2006 that the Big Green has suffered a home loss to a ranked FCS opponent.

The scoring opened five minutes into the game with a 48-yard field goal from Zhao, followed by a 36-yarder at the beginning of the second quarter, giving Cornell an early 6-0 advantage. Dartmouth responded when Jackson Proctor ran for a 10-yard touchdown, briefly taking the lead. However, Wang quickly retook control for Cornell with a four-yard touchdown pass to Parker Woodring, leaving the score at 13-7 by halftime.

The Big Green managed to regain the lead early in the third quarter when Grayson Saunier scored from eight yards out. Yet, Cornell swiftly countered with 20 consecutive points, kicking off with Wang’s 14-yard touchdown run, followed by a 17-yard touchdown pass to Samuel Musungu. Zhao added to the scoring with a successful 31-yard field goal, and Hunter Sloan capped it off by returning a Dartmouth fumble 22 yards for a touchdown.

With this defeat, Dartmouth’s record dropped to 7-2, placing them at 4-2 in the Ivy League, trailing last year’s champions Harvard by one game. The Big Green will look to rebound in their final regular season game next Saturday against Brown. Meanwhile, Cornell improved to a 4-5 record, with a 3-3 standing in the league, and will next face Columbia.
