The Vandals, who found themselves trailing 41-38 at the half, made a push early in the second half and narrowed the gap to just one point at 46-45 when Tyler Mrus sank a three-pointer approximately 17 minutes into the game. However, BYU quickly surged forward with a 10-0 run, which was highlighted by critical baskets from Saunders—a layup followed by a three-pointer.
Shortly after, Traore took charge, dominating the play with five field goals and six free throws within just six minutes, finishing that stretch with a 9-0 score against Idaho.
